Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the practice of restoring a person’s maximum mobility by using anatomical and physiological expertise to assess movement and posture.

About Physiotherapy
A physiotherapist performs an assessment on a person to form a working diagnosis, this allows a personalized recovery program to be compiled that’s considerate to a person’s needs and goals.Allowing a person to move as freely as they possibly can is the aim.

Common factors that have a negative effect on a person’s mobility are pain, weakness, poor balance and stiffness; a physiotherapist will work towards reducing the impact of these factors thus improving mobility. Although alleviating immediate pain is important, a physiotherapist is concerned with working towards a long term recovery that prevents a recurrence of a problem.

On your first visit you will be fully assessed over 30 minutes during which time you will be asked about your condition & symptoms as well as your general health. This will be followed by a physical examination to test the relevant anatomical structures and to help identify the cause of your problem.

At the end of the assessment, the findings will be discussed with you – it is important for you to have a full understanding of your problem so that an agreed plan of action can be implemented which focuses on achieving your specific individual goals, also the likely number of sessions required will be discussed with you and relevant treatment techniques will be carried out. You will receive a treatment plan on your first visit that is tailored specifically for you.
